Police Brutality that Rivals Rodney King - But This Time Its a Juvenile Beaten

By: Eric J. Davis
I hear clients all the time saying they are beaten by the Police when they are arrested. Usually, we have no proof and the Harris County DA's office is unsympathetic when we have no proof. Their complaints are never SUSTAINED! So here is a case where there was proof and the DA blocked release of the tape. In fact, the suspect was still convicted. The officers have yet to be tried and are still employed by the Houston Police Department. But check this video out -it rivals the Rodney King video (Click on the Photo to see the video).

Sad thing is that the officers were only charged with misdemeanor Official Oppression. They could have all at least been charged with the felony offense of engaging in organized crime (youth who cooperate with each other and break in cars are charged with that felony). The thing that surprises me is that the other officers are saying nothing as the beating occurs. No one says stop. No one says let up. No one says he has had enough. And after it was all said and done, no one said anything. They all joined in.... Is this acceptable behavior for officers in our city while on patrol? This all happened so spontaneously. It does not appear that the officers discussed it. But yet they quickly joined in and beat an unarmed, defenseless teenager who was in a surrender position. Such anger and hatred... protecting and serving? If the DA's Office is refusing to take any real action after viewing the tapes, then maybe the United States Attorney's Office will see it and be outraged enough to take action.

  1. I could not help but be moved with compassion after reading this blog. Thank God he has some type of evidence to reveal that this incident occured and has support from activist in the community to pursue recovery. I am moved however, the compassion in my groanings came from men that suffer revolt attacks of the same nature by the things unseen. I immediatly sought the Lord after reading these findings and with sound clarity believed that the Lord could release prisoners, especially one that he bestowed upon me. I know my thoughts are not withholden because later I picked up my neice to go to the bible book store with me. My uncle stated, that bible won't get that man out of prison. Well, I tried everything else including going to the United States Attorney only to find that they have full knowledge of everything but it would take allot of money to get his release. That was almost two years ago and they have been taxing me rentlessly, I wonder when is it going to be enouph. I am not sorry for me because some of my youth have gotten their release but the man that helped me is not getting anything. I feel like he is being punished daily and no one is stopping anything because either they are afraid of what they have done or they just don't want him to be free.

  2. They are not afraid of what they have done, the key is greed. Greed is like the grave that never says enouph and once it recieves a entrance it is almost impossible to stop. Greed says it should have been me or it's mine even if everything otherwise indicates there is no way. If greed can find a opening into a area entitled to someone else it will lie, pretend to be and decieve. It is also this way with Authority especially if someone is afraid of another having a common place in a area of life that they have been priveledged to control. In fact sometimes Authority comes with greed like elected offices that have given way to other nationalities. I heard you say it has gotten worse since Obama became President. To some it feels like they are loosing control of positions of power that they are use to ruling. This type of fear will cause some priveledged citizens to beat the life out of civilians that haven't done anything. This type of fear will cause those who are use to controlling something claim that a innocent life has done terrible things. This type of greed is crafty, it will lie, cheat and even take up the nature of the entitled persons body to pretend to be the one commisioned for active duty. Greed, once it's applied it just can't get enouph.

  3. Eric, they are NOT still employed with HPD... They were fired, AS THRY SHOULD HAVE BEEN. And engaging in organized criminal activity would require proof of elements that don't appear to be present in this case. You're a seasonedlawyer that practices at the CJC, so you know all of this. The juvenile did not deserve this, despite the fact that he was fleeing from a crime that he was subsequently found guilty (or delinquent) of.
